lets get the on time rule clarified!
For us that are on time ... why should we have to have pone MIA when they never showed up on time? I was told its up to the TD ... is that right???? Sorry to b---- about this but it raises my hackles.

amen to that, thank you. just to clarify on my end, of course everyone knows where i stand - all my rules state to be on time, my ads as well. The only reason i was pushed to this limitation was because of my players like you that were unhappy with the same situation....it isn't fair. but i've said enuf....seems like every time i open my mouth about this i wage WWIII on everyone, and that isn't my intent. I guess some TDs have more patience than others, and some have more patient players as well......in my case it wasn't JUST up to me as TD, but came from the mouths of my own players Have a great day hon.

i know the reason why you are posting this.you left my tourney because i didnt 'out' someone, all i was trying to do is explain to you that every TD does have the choice to 'out' or not to 'out' a player that is not in the room at start, i have a lot of patience and to me a game in the first round takes about 10mins anyway so you dont end up waiting too much longer. i really dont see what the big deal is in a case like this. i dont think that it is bad enough to leave. well everyone is welcome to comment.

Outing players

Maybe it is time to take the decision away from TD's and just let the puter do it. This would end all arguments, if the player aint there after say 5 minutes he/she is out, and maybe even consider no refund or partial refund. The last bit may be a bit harsh, as there could be connection issues etc, but something to consider.

If what you say is true ... about each TD making up his/her own rules as they want to. Then I won't play as I will never know under what rules I'm playing by. The rules need to be clear and upheld.

I agree we should figure out a universal standard for this situation; however, it helps when the TDs are consistent - I have had players mention this to me before.....like in Ma's tourneys, everyone already knows how I stand, it's even posted in my rules 'Dont Be Late' - so players should not be surprised on the occasion that they are outed for being tardy. Other TDs are consistently lenient, which is absolutely fine too - perhaps this can help you decide what tourneys to attend, depending on your patience for the day as a player I think both ways work for different TDs and for different players. Having the computer automatically start could pose a problem for the times I have to wait until just before the hour to start my rules when everyone comes in last minute. And sometimes my messages don't show an MIA during our tourneys........having an auto-out would only be efficient for first round, I'm afraid.
We'll keep workign on this. LIke I said, all TDs should be consistent with their own rules...I think most of us are. I don't know who else outs, but perhaps if there are others they can post in their rules and ads as well.....that may help. Have a super day hon!

Timing

The main advantage to giving the TD some say on this matter is that we get to know our regular players and can often 'second guess' whether a player has just overlooked the time or are likely to miss the tourny completely. Sure we make mistakes, none of us are perfect.
I have hosted many tournys where, if the timing rule was enforced to the second, it would be a cancellation or low entry. Worst example recently was a tourny with 3 in the room at start time. I started the tourny about a minute late with 9 players. As a player which would you rather play 3 or 9 ?
At the end of the day the only people that can resolve this problem are the players ie by showing up on time. I know we all have other demands on our time but will it really throw your daily schedule into chaos if you enter the room 2 minutes before the start time. You never know you might even get a chuckle from some of the comments made.

The TD's are doing a fine job, my gripe is with the players who turn up late. I know, I don't play too many tourneys, but if the tourney starts on the hour, I would not dream of trying to enter at one minute past. As a matter of interest, when the scroll says tourney pending, is it too late or not.

No Jamies, it's not too late, BUT, it does mean the TD is just about ready to hit the START button....so you might find yourself signing up at the last minute, but yet find your out of time,(or luck) if the TD pushes the button at the same time.

I, myself, don't 'out' players, if they are regulars...I understand there are different circumstances and events that might prevent someone from being on time on rare occasions.

I just ask that you, as players, be considerate of other players....IF YOU DONT LIKE WAITING FOR THE LATE PERSON, THEN YOU UNDERSTAND, NO ONE LIKES WAITING ON YOU EITHER.

SO PLEASE BE KIND AND BE ON TIME....

ANDDDDDDD......IF YOU SIGN UP WITHIN THE LAST 5 MINUTES TO START TIME....COME IN THE ROOM....DONT SIGN UP AND THINK YOU HAVE TIME TO TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE OR CHANGE THE LAUNDRY, PLEASE BE READY TO PLAY !!!!!!!!

With all the concern over the polices that the tournaments are run under and for the sake of the tournaments integrity i am asking the TD or adminstration to adapt a single overall policy.
TY

Two discussions?

Are there two subjects here or am I being a bit dim, mormally amAnyway, maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick, but being late, I though, was turning up for tourneys late, but I see you TD's are also refering to lateness maybe MIA during the tourney. IMO the latter is not really acceptable, they have entered and should be ready to play, not enter and go off to play another game. Surely if there is long enough couldn't two players have a private game in the tourney room? or is that not allowed?
