I have a poorly laptop and I cannot find anyone able to repair it.Adverts in the local paper from computer repairers always elicit a NO when the learn it is a laptop. What is their problem ? The backlight has gone and I have the part (an inverter).Has anybody out there opened up a laptop,if so if I tried the repair would you expect me to face insurmountable problems,no booby traps etc.I am not prepared to pay Toshibas high repair costs unless unavoidable. You may try looking for a documentation on Toshiba site regarding your laptop model. With any luck, it can be a technician's manual. If unsuccessful, you may try opening the beast by yourself & take a peek. If you are lucky, your part may be the one of the very few that is easily replaceable. More likely than not, however, your laptop's guts are a tangled interdependent mess that may pose a challenge to many trained technicians...
