Runners (Discussion) Posted by verdelger Oct 23 2011 11:47AM What constitutes a runner? To me, it's a player who wins the 1st game & then leaves. I'd be interested if other players think a runner is also something else. ty Runners Posted by 1okaylady (TD) Oct 24 2011 10:19AM There is no rule that states anyone has to play more than one game in a row, unless it is agreed upon by both players at the beginning of the game(s). Therefore, no one should be calling anyone a 'runner'. Whether you win or lose, it's all in the fun of the game. One could set an example, that, when you join the table to play, state that you can only play one game or two games, etc. Some players chose not to play another game, whether they win or lose. So pointing the finger at a 'runner' is inappropriate. Runners Posted by Good_Player (VIP) Oct 26 2011 8:40PM Right on OKLady runners Posted by HatVan (VIP) Oct 27 2011 1:00AM a runner is someone who agrees 2 play more then 1 game but leaves after 1 game Webmaster Posted by bluetulip (VIP) Oct 30 2011 12:00AM Game Colony has added some things over the years, how about a setting just for more than one game? At least you know that whoever turns up at the table will play more than one and dispense with "the runner" name callings we see so often. runners Posted by cygfa Nov 1 2011 11:48AM Good suggestion bluetulip! Perhaps Game Colony would consider setting up a 2/3 option? I think many players would like to see this. ty, cygfa Runners Posted by crib2b Nov 5 2011 11:05PM I thought runners were something on the bottom of a bobsled :) Seriously, I am amazed people who have played hundreds of games get upset when someone leaves after one game. It is only a game. I agree though that a 2/3 or 3/5 option would be great, especially for the money players. runners Posted by HatVan (VIP) Nov 8 2011 2:56PM lots of people only have enough tix 4 1 game runners Posted by aaaman Nov 9 2011 5:56PM I would also like to see Game Colony institute a 2/3 option. ty RUNNERS Posted by hanoishooter Nov 12 2011 7:36AM To me a runner is someone who plays, wins than leaves to try and to the same to someone else who is only after having a few minutes of online enjoyment. All too often you'll see the runner back looking for someone with more points them them. If lucky they be invited to play and if they win, run again to look for someone else. The option button of two out of 3 is a good idea, as long as the players are locked into it, If someone leaves before that, they loose. Simple I think it whould be a good idea to post a list of runners. Sure sometime someone might just be mad and post a name because they lost, but Gamecolony could edit it. Anyone with a lot of posting against them would serve as a warning to others. runners Posted by elsie2005 (VIP) Nov 14 2011 4:04PM To me a runner is someone who is losing a game and deliberately uses tactics to get you to close table. Thus winning the table Runners Posted by ramage Nov 16 2011 9:42AM Very Good idea hanoishooter - a 2/3 option button that players are locked into is a GREAT idea! 2/3 Posted by cribking75 (VIP) Nov 19 2011 7:09AM Everyone seems to be in agreement that this would be a great option. Please help GC, it's what your customers want. 2/3 option Posted by ataua Nov 20 2011 4:39PM Agreed cribking75 - This site could really use a 2/3 option. Please consider setting it up GC. ty 2/3 option Posted by webmistress (moderator) Nov 26 2011 1:55PM Thanks to all of you for you input. Web will consider adding 2/3 option. This will not be done immediately, as web's job jar is full, but be assured the option has been added to the To-Do list. REALLY Posted by KymB (VIP) Nov 30 2011 2:35AM WOW U R considering this ??? sometimes we play on our lunch time. I try to always say one game only on limited time............ Please 2/3 op...REally were is the DEMOCRACY.......WE live in America........sorry i know this is an universal site.....!!!! 2/3 will be just one of many options...And NOT a default option Posted by webmaster (moderator) Nov 30 2011 7:35AM 2/3 will be just one of many table options...And NOT a default option. Tables with this option will be marked as "2/3" in the lobby. Nobody will be forced to play 2/3 if they don't like it or don't have time for it. But we hope that some players will set their table this way. Players will always be able to negotiate before starting to play. Opinions? runners Posted by duster340 Jan 1 2012 1:21PM I find that most players leave after the first game because it will be your crib. Of couse they win lots of games and tickets doing this. some even bail if they don't get the first crib! Some even go out and come back in to change the first crib. I agree that there are some flaws with the site in this regard and players should not be able to take advantage of this. re runners Posted by gooders2 (VIP) Jan 3 2012 9:20AM well said duster, and well said webmaster, well said cribking , and to kymB get a life why is it that the minoriety always win but i hope not this time. and by the way happy new year to you all . re:runners Posted by KymB (VIP) Jan 3 2012 10:00AM First of all gooders2 you don't know me...so to say get a life is really rude!! I have been playing on this site a long time and I stand by manners. I do not always have time to play more than one game as stated on my previous post and I try to let my pone know this. If they choose to play me that is their choice. If a 2/3 option works for other players and it is optional I am OK with GC adding this as an option. However I am sad that a lot of the people who play for money think they are the BEST and that is not always the case. I think most of us are here for the love of cribbage and speaking for me only if I only play one game and leave I don't consider me a runner or trying to get an advantage over the other player its just I don't always have the time to play more. Happy New Year to all, especially to Gooders2....!! re runners Posted by gooders2 (VIP) Jan 7 2012 9:42AM first of all let me appologize to kymb i also have been playing here for a long time , but as i said there are a few who do not say time for one but just run , and yes i am a money player and i like to play for tickets sometimes, and maybe a few tourneys, and yes there are some who think they are good , i dont think i am good i know i am good lol so please accept my appologies , but do you accept there are some in the 2200s who will only play one game and run,and some on the way up also, and only played a few games, a lot less than my 19000 odd . RE;runners Posted by KymB (VIP) Jan 7 2012 5:06PM apology accepted gooders2....maybe we can play "1" sometime LOL. re runners Posted by gooders2 (VIP) Jan 8 2012 8:02AM of course you can dear but only one ? |
