Highest Possible Pegging for the Dealer

Highest Possible Pegging for the Dealer

We received the following comment from a cribbage player: "I’ve been playing cribbage for many years and just found your page. I think you might have an error regarding the highest possible pegging for the dealer. You show the dealer hand of 4,4,4,7 with the pone hand being 4,8,10,K. The sequence and accumulative total is correct at 26. But there is a higher hand still. Dealer hand 3,3,4,4 Pone hand 3,3,4,4 Sequence of play is as follows: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Pone 3 3 4 4 Dlr 3 3 4 4 Dlr Points 2 12 2 12 Dlr Totals 2 14 16 28 + 1 (last) = 29" Any comments would be appreciated. -web

30pts can be pegged

If both players have 7744, 7755 or 7766. If the pone leads the 7, the hand will play automatically. 7777 4 15pts, then 4444, 5555 or 6666 gives another 15pts. So, I am pretty sure 30pts is the highest score that can be pegged in any 1 deal :-)))

Highest possible total score for the dealer

This is a highly unlikely combination, but it is possible. As a dealer, I think (I may be wrong), the highest score possible, including hand, crib & pegging is 78pts. If the cards were dealt player 1: 334455 player 2: 33445 & J If player 1 puts the 55 in crib & player 2 adds the 5 & jack, then the 5 of the same suit as the jack is turned over. This would give the dealer the highest hand possible, 29pts in crib. The dealer's hand of 33445 gives them a total of 20pts in their hand. The pone, obviously gets the same score of 20pts. Then if the cards are played 33334444 in pegging, the dealer scores 29pts & the pone scores 12pts. So if u are ever 33 Vs 78 & it becomes your deal, don't give up, it is still possible for you to win 121 vs 120. :-)

Delete the last sentence of my last post & insert: "So, if u are ever 43 vs 88 & it becomes your deal, don't give up, it is still possible for you to win 121 vs 120" If it was "only" 33 vs 78, u could storm home with an 11pt win, as the pone, in the next hand. So the moral of this: NEVER GIVE UP & NEVER SURRENDER:-)

a cribbage nightmare

Things are looking sweet, through a freakish set of circumstances, I find myself up 79 vs 0. It comes up to their deal. i'm dealt 33445J, they get 334455. I shouldn't, but u I do, put J5 in crib & the dealer adds their 2 5s to the crib. Then a 5 of the same suit as the jack in crib is turned up. Pegging then goes 33334444 I scored 32pts in total, unfortunately they scored 78pts though, so the score is now 111 vs 78. As the dealer, I feel pretty safe at 111 vs 78, so I try 2 forget that hand & move on. When the next deal comes, the cards are: me (dealer): 54410KQ them (pone): 4455KQ It's my crib, so i'll put KQ in crib & your opponent adds the same cards. A 6 card is then turned over. Pegging then goes 5554444/10 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGGGGH, I just lost 120 vs 126 after being 79 vs 0, lol
