What do you do............... Posted by beejaysus (VIP) Sep 5 2006 10:23AM ...........to change or try to change things when you are on a bad run? When I play league crib, there are all sorts of superstitions, going to the loo, dropping the cards on the floor, and it is surprising what can sometimes happen. So, when you are sitting in front of your screen and things are going from bad to worse, what tricks do you try to change your "luck". welll Posted by AWC_Saxman (VIP) Sep 5 2006 4:26PM so far the only thing I know to do is reach in my pocket and get some more money! We all know how it is and anyone that says differently is fibbing. To me cribbage is a microcosm of life... you just have to learn from the mistakes, and sometimes you dont even make mistakes and things just go against you... just keep going.Good luck to you! oh I forgot,,,having said that Posted by AWC_Saxman (VIP) Sep 5 2006 7:52PM I do have a superstition ... I have this lucky muffin ... it is like Kryptonite against my opponents! Play through it! Posted by PV544_62 (TD) Sep 5 2006 8:48PM I find that there is a period of 6-10 consectutive days every month where I cannot consistently win at cribbage or any other game here. I just play through it as I know the other 20+ days every month I will do OK. and then there are cycles Posted by lardy100 (VIP) Sep 5 2006 8:51PM It's like life.....full of peaks and valleys, cycles yet to be experienced, roads yet to be travelled. The key is to take each game and each hand as a learning experience, keeping your eyes wide open and if you continue to believe and to try, the possibilities are endless. Enjoy the ride. Well, what I do is this .... Posted by Frank_Leroy (VIP) Sep 6 2006 8:59AM I go to the GC beauty parlor and get a new hair style - a new look - a new me and believe it or not, I think it works. It gives me a whole new perspective. Sea Goddess p.s. Try the pink gjamies - I think it's the luckiest - gl playing :) cycles Posted by kitterval Sep 6 2006 11:11AM I agree with lardy100. I honestly think that over the long run, (100 games? 1,000 games?)we will all get about the same amount of good, bad and average hands. That said, if you observe and practice good tactics and strategy you can win most of the 15% of the boderline games that could go either way. I recently discovered some very good cribbage strategy on a local club's website. They appear to update it often. Check it out - www.albuquerquecribbage.com and click on the strategy page. Valerie (cygfa) Strategy Posted by ataua Sep 6 2006 7:36PM Many thanks to Cygfa for the strategy website address. I looked into it and it indeed a good place for cribbage strategy & tactics! I wish I could go and play in that club but unfortunately I live about 900 miles away. Too far to travel each week! lol back to basics Posted by mbova (VIP) Sep 8 2006 9:00PM Recently I went on an 8 game losing steak and a nine game loser seperated by 2 wins. Side note, that actually knocked me down to 246L and <1400Rating. I went back and hit the books. Even though I have read them before it gave me a two day break, then I just watch how the pointing is going because that is the most control I have in a game. Final note I back in the top 50. Mbova Posted by beejaysus (VIP) Sep 10 2006 6:57PM was it the reading of the books ot the 2 day break? Dropping the cards on the floor or going to the loo:):):) |
