Tournament Signups - Please Pay Attention to Tournament Format

Over the past several weeks, I have held many tournaments under various formats; these include: 1. Standard 121 Point Single Elimination / one loss and you are out of the tournament 2. Standard 121 Point Single Elimination / Best 2 of 3 (lose 2 and you lose the match and you areout of the tournament) 3. 61-Point/5-Card Single Elimination / one loss and you are out of the tournament. 4. 61-Point/5-Card Point Single Elimination/ Best 2 of 3 (lose 2 and you lose the match and you areout of the tournament) 5. 61-Point/5-card Lowball/Losers win. As you can see there are many variation. Sometimes, there are individuals who do not like or wish to play a particular variation. Each tournament format is clearly show in two places on the sign-up page. In addition, the format type is explained during the running of the rules. I request that you take a moment and review the tournament format and make sure that you want to play that format. In addition, you should arrive 5 minutes befoe the torunament start time to read the rules to ensure that you understand the format. There have been several instances where folks do not realize that the tournament is a special format until the tournament starts and the brackets are set. Once the brakets are set,the TD is unable to remove a player from the tournament. This has caused a couple of players to become upset at the TD, (myself and other TDs) for not removing them, after the brackets are set; the TD has stated the format on both the sign-up page and within the running of the rules and the player just has not noticed the format on the page or within the running of the rules or does not see the rules because they arrive in the room after the running of aome or all of the rules. So I impore eaveryone to make sure they understand the format before signinging up for a tournament. Sincerely PV544

I played in one of your various tourneys. Yes I, we the players do need to watch for the format. But in the 1 tix tourney I played in your rules stated manual count when the tourney was set up for computer count. So the players are not the only ones who need to pay attention.

I don't recall if the recent tournament that I participated in was run by you or another TD, but I noticed that a couple of regulars had entered and only thereafter realized that it was a "61-Point/5-card Lowball/Losers win". I agree that must be frustrating to the TD who takes the time to spell out the format of the impending game only to have a player realize upon entering they are not interested in participating. Again, whether it was you or another TD, that person was very gracious in accomodating the fact that it was THE player who had not been paying attention, and he/she made it an easy exit with all monies refunded. Thanks for your efforts.

Manual Count

The tournament you are referring was advertised as manual count tournmanet. This Manual Count setting cannot be set by the TD but must be sett by the players; there were a couple of players who refuses to set to manual.

TDs are responsible for getting things set up right when we create our tourneys - sometimes we DO make mistakes, but you have all been pretty forgiving about that. However, some things such as manual count, are the responsibility of the person setting the table, the TDs can't do EVERYTHING for you lol :) The easy resolution for this situation is simply that all players, regardless of tourney settings, need to double check when creating AND when joining tables. Cribbage isn't the only game with variety - when we do rummy tourneys we always have similar problems, and we can't set up tables as TDs for our tourneys - we count on players to help us out by paying attention. My rules clearly state that any table set wrong will NOT count for the tourney - so be real sure when you set and join.....no biggie :) We do everything we can to make tourney play simple and fun for our players; however I have to back up PV on this, as we can only do so much.....please help us out? :) Thanks so much, and see u allllll at tourney time!!!!

Manual settings

The same happens outside of tourneys. Players dont look at the settings and then get very abusive when they are asked to manual score. One even said I dont know how. My question is why do people play crib if they dont know the basics and just depend on the auto scorer? Its a great old game and if people want to learn we could have a teaching room.
