Table Option to Show or Hide Played hands -- rules page updated

As the new table option was introduced, Cribbage Rules' page was updated with the following: Players may also elect to play at the table that either shows or does not show the played cards in hand. ... Table Option to Show or Hide Played hands There are two schools of thought in face-to-face cribbage regarding whether to show played hands or not. One is that you show the cards and the other is that you do not. In order to reduce an advantage of one person over the other, the cards should be shown. If the cards are not shown, the player with more acute memory has a distinct advantage over the opponent. In the ACC (American Cribbage Congress) face-to-face tournaments and in ACC Grass Roots play, the rules state that the cards are to be shown. By default, at GameColony the played cards-in-hand are now shown as smaller cards next to the clock. Experienced players, however, may want to uncheck the table option "Show played hand" which would give a player with better memory skills an extra advantage. In the lobby view, the table with a non-default option of not showing the played cards-in-hand is marked with 'n'.

Showing played cards

Thank you GC for addressing this issue. It is important to show the played cards and is equally fair to both players. One suggestion I have for you: NOT to show the cards all together. Each players played cards should be separated and remain on their own side of the table. They should be located directly in front of the players hand. The entire object here is see what and how your opponent has played their hand to deduce how you should play your own remaining cards. Thank You, Tom (pegfast2)

Agreed! Seeing what and when your opponent has played in response to your own leads are very important. Keep up the good work Game Colony! Heerlen

i wholly agree with pegfast, as this method closely resembles a live cribbage game--the way the cards are now displayed, only tends to confuse all involved,,,,,,thanks for listening,,,,,,gramps.

We'll make a change here with played card display

Within a week or so, we'll make a change here with how played cards are displayed. To eliminate the possible confusion with open cards, we'll show the cards in a way that it would be obvious who played which card when.

I very much agree with all of the above and have to say that you folks at Game Colony are very efficient and certainly are more concerned with your members comments than the TD's at the Zone were! Crapud

All the staff here are very concerned about all OUR players and try to respond and comply with all requests, if they are possible. We try to do our best, so that all players are enjoying their play. Webmaster does a tremendously great job on updating.... and considers all requests, even if they not practical. He will give you a response, one way or another......We, TDs, will also answer any questions or concerns that anyone might have.... Thanks to all the players for making this the BEST place to play any of our games.
