On this day in Chess History :) Posted by PEGASUS (moderator) Feb 10 2007 10:47AM On February 10... On this day in 1996 the chess-playing IBM computer Deep Blue defeated world chess champion grandmaster Gary Kasparov in the first of a six-game series. Kasparov went on to win the series, but in a rematch in 1997, Kasparov resigned the sixth game, thereby allowing Deep Blue to win the series. Not only was it the first time a reigning grandmaster human champion lost to a computer, but it was also the first time Kasparov had ever lost a multi-game match. to pegasus Posted by RRD (VIP) Mar 28 2007 6:57PM Pegasus is back in the chess rooms ! ^=======================================================================================================================================================================================^ !!!!!!! |
