canasta rules Posted by robinmars Nov 9 2011 1:18PM cptoneleg asks me what is the ACABAR rule.In the 50s when i was at collage i played canasta nearly every night for 2 years The ACABAR rule came in when a player was in a hopless position during a hand.The player in this positin could call ACADAR and the hand would finish the opponent receiving 1500 points It introduced another tactic as the player inthe good position would try to conceal completed canastas in his hand and go out with a big total before his opponant called ACABAR, which he could only do on his turn. I used to have the 1953 rules but cant find them now My original question was what happened to this rule, does anyone know.I thought it was a good rule. please comment Robinmars ??? I have played that variation for 4 people. ACABAR means in my language and in castilian Finish. Well, i use to hate that version but i have to agree that it was very funny. Have played also others variations. |
