Winning and losing points - how are these awarded? Posted by yaamba Jul 24 2009 6:30AM I am a relatively new player to online Canasta but have thoroughly enjoyed most of the games I have played via this site. There are a few things though that I am rather confused about. 1. How are the winning and/or losing points awarded. Is this on the winning margin, length of the game, your rating and the rating of your opponent???? I am really in the dark how this works. 2. I have on many occasions joined a table when a general invitation to goes out, only to be booted off almost immediately. Why are players permitted to be selective about their opponents? Surely in the interests of fun and fair play, if a player joins a table in response to a general invitation, then that player has the right to play. Otherwise, the call should not be a general one to all players but invitation only. 3. I have played a few half minute games, and sometimes I might take a whole 10 seconds to make a move; or, conversely, the computer slows up at a crucial time and the time limit nears its end. I find it extremely discourteous and unsportmanlike when my opponent tells me to hurry up, or types a zzzzzz message in the chat line. (The latter only encourages me to wait until the 29th second before making a move!) Surely 30 seconds means just that! That is... 30 seconds to make a move. 4. Finally, and perhaps this should be my first point.... I have played some polite, courteous and gracious players, who have congratulated me on my wins, and thanked me for the game. I too like to thank people and to also congratulate them on their game, especially if they have flogged me fairly and squarely. It is a pleasure to play them whether I win or lose. So thank you to all of you out there who fit this category. |
