Memorial Day Posted by Joker (TD) May 25 2009 11:53AM For I was once a soldier, and went to war in a far away place. I watched my comrads come and go, But stopped looking at their face. Saw way too many of my friends, Never to leave this place. They are in my thoughts both day and night, Makes me wonder - Why do we have to fight? For all of our fallen soldiers all over the world - Thanks for being here. JOKER WE WILL NEVER FORGET Posted by Upsydaizie May 25 2009 2:00PM I grew up right by an army training base outside of Philadelphia and was about 7 years old by the middle of the Vietnam War. I remember hearing the low flying planes over head- the sound of them so frightening, as they got ready to land. I was scared enough to take cover & fear that they would drop a bomb on our house-just like in the nightmares I would have. What did I know? I was just a kid and back then no one talked to you about the war. You just picked up the images from TV and magazines and overheard conversations about whose son died- including my own cousin. When my mom explained to me that the planes above were flown by AMERICAN MEN keeping us safe...it made all the difference to me. I was no longer scared, and felt safe. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO KEEP US SAFE EVERYDAY IN THIS FOREVER POST 911 ERA. YOU ARE IN MY HEART AND PRAYERS DAILY. I FLY MY FLAG EVERYDAY FOR YOU. |
