Why,can anyone answer ??? If you are a good player, it may be aggravating to get cards that just don't fall right, but if you play well, you can win. What matters more, perhaps, is the total points being played. You need at least enough total points so that several hands can be played. Then, a player has an opportunity to recoop on a less than desirable hand, especially at the beginning of a game. For me, playing is what I enjoy. Of course, winning is great, but you can't win all of the time. SO I take the good with the bad. It is more luck of the wilds as u can go out fast without any planning if u get wilds. Also seems to be less chance of a comeback if u fall behind because of the ease of going out. Some players tell me they prefer it but those don't seem to be tournament players as one canasta tournaments seem to be 4 players or fewer. It is good for variety it seems. Many play both.
