just thought after playing now since pool began on gc (wtg) 3 points to make (1)when we start how about saying (hi)and(gl) does not cost anything we should keep it fun and friendly 2) at the end of the game say good game if it was a good game or just (ty) it doesnt hurt does it 3)high ranking players remember where you started (1400)yes we all started there so give the smaller ranks a chance just my thoughts sure this will get replies

I totally agree with your comments and recommendations. A little common courtesy and mutual respect for your fellow players, no matter what the ranking, never hurt anybody. So, in advance may I just say thank you and good games to all.

Hi! Great idea! I for one began my playing at GC in the cribbage hall and was really impressed with the politeness and good sportsmanship displayed among the free players! Then when I coughed up some bucks and swallowed my fear and played in the tourneys I was treated to the real social amenities!
Being competitive doesn't mean we have to forget our manners! Hi and Thank you ease the pone and brings out the best in both players!
Compete and but don't harden your pones heart! I've never been sorry for being polite! Play and make fun!
Thank You and Good Luck, lobomente!

As I told CP in pm message, being nice doesn't hurt, heck just say gl. And to wolf....a pleasure having you as a TD, you are doing great (not as great as I was lol) but doing good.

I agree with you all of course, but you WILL run across those players that choose not to return your pleasantries for one reason or another...some are not able to play and chat at the same time and don't even look at the chat box.
My advice is to do your thing...say hi and gl or whatever, and if you get no response don't let it get to you. Just play the game. I know quite a few that will give you a hi and gl back, but prefer not to chat during the game and that's fine. Those ones will usually say gg or tyfp at the end. But again..if it doesn't happen...so what! Life is too short to be bothered by something that is nice if it happens but not worth fussing about if it doesn't.
GL to you all!!! Happy Gaming!!

I couldn't agree more. I was brought up to be polite, but i have learned not to let others rudeness get to me. Like Lobomente i was introduces to GC through the Cribbage room and had some good times there (thank you Lardy!!) and am generally impressed with the friendliness that i find. I hope it continues. God Bless.
You're very welcome Myk!

Myk, that is the name of the game, to have fun, meet new people and in the process if you are fortunate, to make new friends along the way. It has been a pleasure and a blessing to have shared many cribbage games with you. Keep spreading your kindness and always have a wonderful time doing so.
Good games to you always and thank you!

I agree Whole Heartly CP, however, I have played against several players that speak and read english although have trouble writting, let alone typing it. One player, (name not to be mentioned), is a regular at the POOL HALL, this individual uses a on-line translator, which is really difficult while playing timed games. I now for myself, before becoming a TD, if I needed to really concentrate I would not chat at all. I would always greet b4 and compliment after. I noticed that a lot of players get frustrated when you do not reply to their chat, that is when the abusive language starts or the snide and rude comments.
Just wanted to say again, replying to chat is at one's descretion, no one should be offended for players not responding in the chat box. There just might be specific reasons for it.
Thank You In Advance!

I agree with you all!!! Cann't get more middle of the road than that! By choice, we can be polite and friendly! By the same token, we can choose not to say anything! It surely isn't an indication of our worth if we choose either way!
The only time I feel offended is if someone is overtly rude to me! Abusive or disparaging chat is of no value and to be honest, at GC I have yet to experience anything of that nature! So choose your style and we are all cool with it! Just have fun and play!
Thank you Rocky!! Your kind comments and feedback mean a great deal to me and that goes for all players, free and tournament!!
In parting I would like to say:HHHHHHHHooooooooooowwwwwwwwwlllllllllll! Happy Gaming!!! lobomente

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
