IDEA 2 Incrse CHALLENGE/SKILL & COMPETITION
Posted by MADoolin (VIP) 9 Mar 2005 10:32am

To the Webmstr & Game Programers:

I have an Idea to increase the Challenge, skill, competition and FUN. If an addittional Option is added to the 'Create A Table' window, like 'BANK THE EIGHT BALL' or 'BANK THE NINE BALL'. I have participated in Several Bar Room and Pool Hall Leagues and Tournaments all through-out California, Nevada and Arizona where this was Mandatory to win each game.

Is it possible to add such a feature?

Would GameColony, be able and willing to do so?

Thank you for adding POOL to the Great List of Multi-Player games. GameColony has the BEST POOL HALL and Players on the NET, and that is the Bottom_____Line!

Thank you in Advance for you response!!

We are not familiar with this rule. Can you please describe what is meant by 'BANK THE EIGHT BALL' or 'BANK THE NINE BALL'.

example on how to bank a shot

1. Bank a shot against a rail when you cannot hit a ball directly into a pocket.

2. Consider the route the ball will have to take. Is it clear?

3. Determine where the ball will need to hit the rail to deflect it into the pocket or another ball. Remember high school geometry: the angle at which the ball travels to hit the rail is the same angle by which the ball will move after it has banked off the rail.

4. Mark the ball's path mentally and put your cue in line. The tip and handle should line up exactly with the point where the ball will hit its target.

5. Use a smooth stroke and strike the ball squarely.

Angle In equals Angle Out

If we were to use general knowledge of geometry in explaining the bank shot it would be a simple 'Angle In' equals 'Angle Out' theory.

Bank 8-th Ball option

So 'banking shot' means a shot off the rail (or bank).
So I guess the very final shot will have to be a banking one rather than straight (with this option on). And what happens if the player missed this final banking shot? Ball-in-hand?

Please confirm & we'd consider adding this simple option.

Absolutely, you are correct. Yes, Ball In Hand. I feel that the competition will heat up with this option available.

Thank you so very much for your time and consideration!

i dont think this option should become a part of GC becuase it will confuse lots of people...

As a non-default option ...'

This option can be introduced as a non-default option with a table marking (such as 'B' for Banking)... During the last shot there can be a message regarding a 'banking' shot. With the above, I believe the Banking option won't be so confusing.

I thinkthat this would add to the game if it was added. At the moment, if you give your opponent the ball in hand with only one ball left on the table, you can be sure that you are going to lose. The bank shot would mean that there was a sense of competition. I am looking forward to it in the future

ok

I agree Webby, it's not that hard to understand. And I congratulate you on this game, must have been pretty hard to come up with the great graphics that you did here. Also the download time in this game is much quicker than in the other games. Thank you for the hard work.

Play pool tournaments online

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
