as knocked said, i to noticed the trend if ur oppant noes there gonna loose they either make u wait to get ur win (5 mins) or they resighn, i have no patiants for this waiting nonsence so i just leave and loose my rating to the sore sport, id rather play than sit at a table and wait. that agravates me when people get cute like that b a man about it,and 1 more thing i joined a tourny 2 day just for fun , me bing me didnt read all the fine print and i missed a few things , 1 of them was the amount of the game 1500 as u no 2500 is kinda to low i have won games in 1 hand playing to 2500 now i play to 3000 most of the time in a 1500 game ur only looking at basicly 1 hand , this i dont like reminds me of the days when u were able to play a 50 point gin game! yes its true,and yes i did play a few of them, and i did it for 1 reasononly : a quik win to boost my rating. its funny in the gin room i usta get upset when peop[le froze up , and it would make me not wanna play.. so i figured 2 bucks join a tourny , thinking these guys aint gonna pull any nonsence and make me wait for the win: but me bing me didnt read the tourny post rite, and when i found out it was too late .so dont b like me READ THE FINE PRINT

Ramp, It seems you and I are the ones mostly posting in here. If anyone would read back through the postings they would see it is out of love of the game and fair play. I wonder do the 'administrators' listen to us? I hear you loud and clear, and as always you have a good point, why would they have a tourney for 1500 when the default on the regular game is 2500??? Wow, that does sound misleading.

You're right ...you need to read the description of the games. Today was a special day set up by MAB called a 'blitz' and she hosted EVERY hour between 4 0 and 110. There is just no way you can do something like that with more points because they wouldn't get done in time for the next one.
This was to get interest going in tourneys, and was enjoyed by all that stuck it out for the entire blitz. Anyone that played every one of the 8 tourneys was promised their entry fees back...now that is pretty special I think.
MAB deserves many kudos for offering this marathon of tourneys!. It's not easy to host that many in a row. WTG MAB!!
I would be the first to agree with you..the longer games are much more enjoyable, but GameColony has set canasta up for our site to offer something for everybody and I see a lot playing both short and long games. Just be very careful when you're joining one already created that it is to your liking.
I hope this explains the tourney you ran into that you didn't enjoy...sorry about that.

i was not saying or complaining about anything other than me not reading correctly if i made it sound like anything eles sorry, and yes i did find out after i entered tourny that u would b refunded IF U PLAYED EVERY TOURNY. thats the only thing i kinda had a problem with , bcuz if i new b4 i joined i would of made arrgments to stay for the night, and like u said PEG,Mab is a very nice and honest person , i think u misundestood what i was saying , it has nuttin to do with Mab, so please if u thihnk im bing mean u took it rong, ITWAS MY FOULT i did not read closly , no 1 elese foult but me so if i steped on anyones toes im sorry ,i love playing tournys they r greatbucz i made 1 mistake isnt gonna dtour me from tournys i found a new love CANASTA so ur gonna have to put up with me and my hard to understand posts cuz ill b here for a while! sorry again hugs and kisses

I understood your post and did NOT think you were being mean. Not YOU! I was only trying to explain why the 1500 tourneys were up for that one day and throwing in a few kudos for MAB along the way. Nothing against you my friend.
We're so happy you love canasta and hope to continue seeing you playing. Let us know what you would like in the way of tourneys as MAB said. We aim to please!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
